Chandice Cochran
Chandice Rebecca Cochran, 28, disappeared from Sutton, West Virginia on August 20, 2019. She left her mother a handwritten note saying she was taking off “for a little while” and never returned. She remains missing.
That morning, Chandice’s mother left for work and came home to find her gone. The note she left behind said she was in good hands and would be back shortly. All of her belongings were still inside the home. Investigators later learned she had been picked up that afternoon by Kristopher Speas, and the two traveled to the Birch River area of Nicholas County.
The pair visited the home of a man named Sam Kelly, who told police he last saw them around midnight. He said Chandice and Speas left his residence on foot and did not return. Chandice’s phone was turned off around that same time and has never been recovered. At 7 a.m. the next morning, Kelly saw Speas walking alone along Widen‑Dille Road, several miles from Birch River, with no sign of Chandice.
The case remains active. In May 2024, West Virginia State Police executed a search warrant at a property on Widen‑Dille Road in Clay County based on new information. Items were seized and sent to the state forensic lab, though no remains were found. As of February 2026, investigators say the search for answers is ongoing.
Chandice is a white female with brown or blonde hair, blue eyes, and a history of frequently dyeing her hair. She is 5’3″ and approximately 110 pounds. She has a distinctive tattoo on her right leg of three skulls with the words “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.”
