Casi Pogue
Case Information:
Casi Ann Pogue was 40 years old when she vanished on July 5, 2020, in Greenville, South Carolina. Notably, she had been at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital twice that weekend following a series of mental health crises.
Surveillance footage captured her walking away from the facility at 8:04 p.m., wearing only one shoe and appearing highly disoriented. Therefore, her state of mind at the time of her departure has remained a central point of concern for investigators.
Physical Description:
Casi is a Caucasian female, standing approximately 5’3″ tall and weighing a petite 100 pounds. At the time she disappeared, she had blonde hair with a dark brown undercut, though her natural color is dark brown.
Significantly, she was last seen wearing a multicolored tie-dye NASA t-shirt and black leggings. She also carried a large, bright red tote bag with a crocodile-skin pattern, which has never been recovered.
Distinguishing Marks:
Casi’s body is marked by several unique tattoos that serve as critical identifiers for the public. Notably, she has the name “DebiAnn” on her right shoulder and the name “Christian” tattooed across the top of her back.
She also has an Aquarius symbol on her right wrist and a small butterfly on one of her ankles. Furthermore, her left shoulder blade features the word “Serenity” followed by several Hebrew characters.
Circumstances of Disappearance:
The Fourth of July weekend leading up to her disappearance was marked by severe emotional distress and physical injury. Notably, neighbors found her acting disoriented after she had accidentally injured herself in a wooded area near her home.
After being taken to the hospital by EMS for the second time that weekend, she chose to check herself out against medical advice. Consequently, she walked into the humid South Carolina night without her phone, her wallet, or even a full pair of shoes.
Surveillance Evidence:
The final images of Casi show her interacting with an unidentified individual in the hospital parking lot. Notably, she spoke briefly to a person inside a blue van and even entered the vehicle for a short period.
After exiting the van, she was seen walking toward West Faris Road before turning onto Doctors Drive and moving out of camera view. As a result, authorities are still desperate to identify the driver of that blue van to determine the nature of their conversation.
Investigative Obstacles:
The search for Casi has been hindered by conflicting reports and the delayed recovery of her personal property. Notably, a close friend initially claimed not to know the whereabouts of her cell phone, only for it to be discovered later in that same friend’s possession.
This delay meant that critical digital breadcrumbs were lost during the most vital hours of the search. Therefore, family members have long suspected that individuals close to Casi may hold more information than they have publicly shared.
Search & Recovery:
Extensive searches were conducted in the months following her disappearance, utilizing both local volunteers and specialized K9 units. Significantly, cadaver dogs were brought in to sweep the heavily wooded nature preserves and parks surrounding the Greenville Memorial area.
Despite these efforts, no physical evidence, clothing, or personal items belonging to Casi have ever been found. Consequently, the lack of a crime scene or physical trail has left the Greenville Police Department with very few actionable leads.
Family Perspectives:
Since 2020, there has been zero activity on Casi’s bank accounts, and her social media profiles have remained completely silent. Notably, cadaver dogs were deployed to search the wooded areas near the hospital and her last known residence, but no evidence was found.
In addition, private investigators hired by the family have encountered resistance and conflicting reports when trying to access police files. Therefore, the family continues to organize their own searches and community vigils to keep the pressure on local authorities.
Community Inpact:
The “Casi Come Home” movement has kept her name alive through vigils and community-led flyer distributions across South Carolina. Notably, the case was officially moved to cold case status in late 2024, prompting a fresh review of the original case files and witness statements.
This transition has renewed hope that new forensic technology or a change in someone’s conscience will lead to a breakthrough. Therefore, the family urges anyone who lived near Doctors Drive in 2020 to revisit their memories of that night.
