Monica Bowie
Monica Renee Bowie vanished on July 5, 2007, from the parking lot of her apartment complex in Atlanta, Georgia. She had met with her attorney earlier that afternoon and returned home to the Lenox Apartments on Gables Drive NE later that night.
Between 11:00 and 11:15 p.m., witnesses heard a woman screaming for help and saw two men — one heavyset with a beard — force Monica into a maroon 2002 Mercury Sable before speeding away.
Investigators found several of her belongings scattered across the parking lot, including jewelry, a manila folder, eyeglasses, food, a green jacket, a broken perfume bottle, and two broken fingernails.
The next day, the Mercury Sable was located abandoned and burned. Two days later, Jasper Keels was arrested for stealing the vehicle, and months later he was charged with kidnapping. Monica has never been found.
Just two weeks before her disappearance, Monica and her fiancé, Shernotta “Rico” Walters, had been pulled over by police. A gun and marijuana were found in the vehicle, but Monica denied knowing the items were there, and the charges against her were eventually dropped.
Walters, who was on parole, was returned to jail for violating the terms of his release and remained incarcerated at the time Monica was abducted. Investigators and her family have stated they do not believe he was involved.
Monica was 34 years old when she disappeared. She is described as 5’4″ tall, approximately 135 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, braces, and pierced ears. She was last seen wearing a dark green dress shirt and blue jeans. Despite extensive investigation, no confirmed sightings or updates have surfaced since that night, and her case remains unsolved.
