Tevin Woodley
Case Information:
Tevin Woodley (nicknamed “Joe Joe”) was a 31-year-old native of the East End of Newport News, Virginia, when he was fatally shot on March 4, 2023. At approximately 4:45 a.m., the Hampton Police Division responded to a call regarding a shooting in the 600 block of Marcella Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Tevin inside an apartment suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the rapid response from the Hampton Fire and Rescue Division, Tevin was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene at 4:58 a.m.
Case Details:
Authorities determined that Tevin had attended a party at the Marcella Road residence the evening before. A gunshot was reportedly heard about 30 minutes prior to the police being notified, suggesting a critical delay in reporting the incident.
Tevin’s death was ruled a homicide, but the motive remains under investigation. To date, the Hampton Police have not released any suspect descriptions, leaving the family to wonder who could have taken the life of a man known for his massive heart.
Timeline of Events:

Investigation:
The Hampton Police Division Criminal Investigation Division is leading the search for justice. Detectives are working to piece together the events of the party and are urging anyone who was present to share any photos or videos taken that night.
While the case remains active, no arrests have been made. Investigators believe that because this occurred during a social gathering, there are witnesses who have yet to come forward with the “missing piece” of evidence.
