D’Lisa Kelley
Case Information:
D’Lisa Michelle Kelley was 24 years old and two months pregnant when she vanished in Dallas on March 7, 2014. On that afternoon, she left her grandmother’s home to attend a friend’s wake. Specifically, she never arrived at the service. Surveillance footage later captured her at a local store on Sunnyvale Street. Specifically, she got into a blue 1989 Grand Marquis.
A Frantic Call:
Although police questioned the driver, they never named him as a suspect. Consequently, her family began to fear the worst as the hours passed. Around 6:45 p.m., her sister received a call filled with panic. D’Lisa screamed for help while a man yelled at her to stop. Then, the line went dead.
Her family immediately knew something was wrong. Therefore, they tried calling her repeatedly, but she never answered. A text message arrived at 7 p.m. saying she would call soon, but no call followed. Her grandmother contacted 911, but the initial police response was slow. In fact, no officer went to the home for three days.
Investigators attempted to ping her phone, but they found no usable data. Meanwhile, her family searched on their own while waiting for official action. Eventually, the search took a dark turn. Because of the delay in help, the family continues to push for accountability today.
Tragic Discovery:
On March 14, 2014, an officer found a woman’s body inside an abandoned home. This location on Presidio Avenue was only minutes from where she was last seen. Tragically, police identified the body as D’Lisa. Someone had beaten and strangled her, and the city ruled her death a homicide.
