Willie Carraway
Early Life and Lessons
Willie Carraway was a 45-year-old man with a very big heart. He grew up in Cross City, Florida, as the youngest child in a hardworking family. Specifically, he started helping on the family farm when he was only five years old. These early chores taught him great discipline. Consequently, those lessons built a strong foundation of faith and effort in his life. He truly believed that God’s grace could help anyone overcome a hard time.
The Legend of Big Kuntry
Friends fondly called him “Big Kuntry” because of his warm and funny nature. He met his wife, Niki, on a Tuesday night, and they connected right away. She saw the deep sincerity in his heart almost immediately. For example, he called her exactly on the dot when she asked him to. Because of that simple act, Niki knew he was a man of his word. Therefore, she trusted him fully from that very first week.
A Life of Adventure
Willie and Niki spent 22 years in a marriage full of love and joy. They enjoyed bowling, beach trips, and church outings together. Moreover, Willie loved the rush of riding fast roller coasters. He also loved to tease Niki just to make her laugh. As a result, their bond stayed strong through every trip and movie night. Today, Niki holds those happy memories very close to her heart.
Work and Passions
Willie worked hard as a blue-collar leader and won the “Best Crew” award. Outside of work, he lived a very bold life. He enjoyed riding ATVs and racing fast jet skis on the water. Additionally, he was a huge football fan who went to the Florida Classic every year. He also loved classic Dodge Rams and often went to car shows. Because of these fun hobbies, he made many friends who shared his passions.
Tragedy in Tampa
On August 27, 2022, Willie Carraway died in a tragic shooting in Tampa, Florida. He was hanging out with friends near a public library when gunfire suddenly started. They want justice for Willie and peace for their family.
A Lasting Legacy
Niki created a nonprofit called Kuntry’s Konnections to honor his name. This group helps local kids and supports the community. Furthermore, she hosts a back-to-school event in Willie’s hometown every year. She also works to teach people about the dangers of gun violence. Her big dream is to open a center for emotional health. She knows Willie would be very proud of this work. Indeed, she continues to fight for him every single day.
