Update: A tragic update to the search for 61-year-old James Kelly who went missing on a hike near the The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain last week. Marana PD has shared that he has been found dead by Pima County Search and rescue. No foul play suspected.
James Harold Kelly, 61, was last seen between 10:40 and 11:00 AM on February 5, 2026, after leaving his residence in Marana, Arizona. He was dressed for a day outdoors, wearing a white hooded sun shirt, shorts, and hiking boots.
When he didn’t return as expected, concern grew quickly, and officers began searching the area surrounding the Wild Burro Trailhead near the Ritz‑Carlton, where they believe he may have gone.
So far, investigators have not found signs of foul play, but the lack of contact and the rugged terrain have made the search challenging. Even small details — a sighting on the trail, a parked vehicle someone noticed, or a conversation remembered later — could help narrow down where he may have gone.
Kelly’s disappearance has left his loved ones anxious for answers, and authorities are urging anyone who may have been near the Wild Burro Trailhead on February 5 to come forward with information. Community awareness is especially important in cases where the trail grows quiet quickly.
